Lithium plays a key role in today’s Lithium-Ion batteries. Moreover, the need for higher energy density batteries has driven renewed interest in the use of Lithium Metal Anode as an alternative to current graphite anode technology. However, there are still many challenges related to Lithium applications regarding extraction sustainable methods, material impurities control, Lithium metal production, manufacturing of thin Lithium metal films, and Lithium anode dendrite growth control. The presentation will explore the current state of the art and technologies, looking at specific aspects of the Lithium process chemistry, from extraction to metal thin film production.
